Sony says GTA VI “plays best” on PS5 with DualSense haptic feedback, 3D audio, and the controller speaker, but doesn't mention any PS5 Pro enhancements yet.

Following the official GTA VI pre-order details shared today by Rockstar Games, Sony is now boasting through the PlayStation Blog that the massively anticipated game will "play best" on PlayStation 5.

Sony said it partnered closely with Rockstar to leverage the console's key features, such as the 3D audio enabled by the Tempest Engine, which will allow players to fully immerse themselves in Leonida's distinct soundscape with enhanced, highly accurate audio positioning, bringing each unique situation to life. The PS5's SSD enables "near-instant load times" while moving across the state of Leonida.

The main differences, however, are enabled by the DualSense controller. Its integrated speaker offers an extra dimension with "featured occurrences and interactions accentuated by remarkable sound effects from the controller". The haptic feedback introduces responsive vibrations that respond to the player's choices and simulate environmental factors throughout the sprawling state of Leonida and modern-day Vice City, while its adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance.

All this is well and good, but it's also very much expected more than five years after the PS5's launch. What fans really wanted to know was details about the frame rate and resolution, especially for the PS5 Pro enhancements. As I wrote months ago, GTA VI is by far the best reason to own a PlayStation 5 Pro console, given that there is no equivalent Xbox mid-generation refresh and that a PC version may take months or even years to materialize.

Sony could have easily sold this substantial difference compared to the Xbox option by providing details on how the PS5 Pro version of the game will surpass the others, but they didn't. To be fair, this is probably because Rockstar is still in the optimization process; after all, we're still almost five months away from November 19. These PS5 Pro specs are likely coming, but much closer to GTA VI's actual launch.
