Ghost of Tsushima

The sprawling open world action/adventure game Ghost of Tsushima is basically the only big PlayStation franchise other than Gran Turismo that hasn't made it to PC yet. Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Horizon have all been ported to PC. What's most puzzling is that even more recent games have been ported; for instance, Horizon Forbidden West, released in February 2022 for PlayStation consoles, will launch later this month on PC. Ghost of Tsushima, on the other hand, launched in July 2020.

All that might change soon, at least according to insider Shpeshal Nick, who reckons we should learn more about the PC port by Tuesday, March 5. Shpeshal Nick is considered to have a fairly reliable track record, though it's always a good idea to keep the anticipation in check ahead of an official announcement.

If Sucker Punch's game is indeed coming to PC, chances are it'll be the Director's Cut released in August 2021 for PlayStation 5. That update added Iki Island, a whole new story and new characters, new armor for Jin and his horse, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types, and new animals to pet. It'll also be interesting to see if Sony also ports Ghost of Tsushima: Rivals, the cooperative multiplayer mode that eventually got its own standalone release.

The game was a massive success for the Seattle-based studio, turning into one of the best-selling original games made for PlayStation 4 with over 9.73 million units sold as of July 2022 (the second launch anniversary). It also earned well-deserved high scores from critics. In my review, I rated Ghost of Tsushima 9 out of 10:

Our time with Ghost of Tsushima demonstrated a much better, not to mention much more engrossing, open world game when compared to Infamous: Second Son. In fact, when all is said and done, this could be regarded as Sucker Punch's finest work yet, both in terms of critical reception and sales, in a similar way to what Horizon Zero Dawn did for Guerrilla Games and Marvel's Spider-Man for Insomniac.

The IP was so successful that it is being made in a movie directed by John Wick's Chad Stahelski, who is keen on making it with a Japanese cast and in the Japanese language only.
