This week, NVIDIA announced that several Blizzard games are joining the list of PC titles available for streaming on GeForce NOW. All the Warcraft remasters, Warcraft Rumble, and Heroes of the Storm are now supported on the cloud.
As you might recall, Blizzard released Warcraft I and II Remastered on November 14, 2024, to celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary. For both games, players are seamlessly able to switch between the remastered and vanilla graphics. The older game, Warcraft I, also received a number of quality-of-life enhancements, including a faster game speed and right-click to move. Both titles got some much-needed user interface improvements, too.
On the same day, Blizzard also released a major update for Warcraft III: Reforged. The most recent game in the real-time strategy trilogy was originally remastered in early 2020, although it was criticized at launch by fans and critics alike. Our resident 'strategy editor' Chris Wray wrote in his review:
Warcraft III: Reforged isn't the game that was promised, but is still a valuable reconstruction of one of the most influential titles in the history of video games. This release is, sadly, riddled with bugs as well as marred by the terrible decisions of Blizzard, particularly that of the false advertising that persists now even after launch. However, despite this, there's little doubting that Warcraft III: Reforged has a compelling story that, even eighteen years on, remains one of the most engaging in the genre. The gameplay holds strong to this day and with the tweaks and upgrades, this is an undeniable diamond in the rough.
The 2.0 update, however, introduced various visual improvements (including complete control on whether to display the updated or the original graphics) and added XP and leveling for Ranked Play multiplayer matches. To be honest, neither of these games are taxing enough to really require using GeForce NOW for most users, and the same goes for Warcraft Rumble and Heroes of the Storm. Still, it could be useful for those who play these titles on the go since NVIDIA's cloud is also available on mobile devices.
The rest of the weekly lineup includes the following games:
● Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Xbox, available on PC Game Pass)
● City Transport Simulator: Tram (Steam)
● Dave the Diver (Steam)
● Microtopia (Steam)
● Orcs Must Die Deathtrap (Xbox, available on PC Game Pass)
● Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator (Steam)
By the way, NVIDIA has completed its transition to the new GeForce NOW payment process. Most premium members can already make adjustments to their subscriptions, while those who used PayPal will be able to do it starting tomorrow.
