Apparently, Gamescom 2015 was a huge success on all accounts. According to the official press release, the convention based in Koln (Cologne) marked a new record this year with 345K visitors, 10K more than last year.

Gamescom 2015 also registered growth in terms of visitors internationality, with 96 different countries represented against 88 of Gamescom 2014, and exhibitors on the showfloor, with 806 this year against 703 of the previous edition. Even the exhibition complex was much larger this time around, with 193K square meters against last year's 163.5K, and the Gamescom city festival in the town centre also got 150K visitors in 2015, 20K more than 2014.

Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koelnmesse, said:

The premise of success for Gamescom 2015 was already very good, bu the results have absolutely surpassed our expectations. The growth of visitors, exhibitors and exhibition space, in combination with the regulations introduced to improve the event's quality, are important components of the ongoing success of Gamescom. We're very satisfied of Gamescom 2015 since we've been able to offer once again an international business venue for exhibitors and a unique gaming event for visitors.

Maximilian Schenk, Administrator of BIU/Bundesverband Interaktive Unterhaltungssoftware (conceptual sponsor of Gamescom), added:

Gamescom reached the next level - this year it didn't just grow up again. With many new events and initiatives, it became much more varied, reflecting the growing importance of videogames in our society. This year, Gamescom confirmed in a convincing way its exceptional position of major worldwide event for videogames and most important business venue in Europe.

That's with an important publisher like Sony choosing to skip the event for the most part in favor of Paris Games Week, since Gamescom 2015 was too close to E3 2015. It's not surprising to discover that the organizers have now moved Gamescom 2016 back to its usual place, in the middle of August or slightly after that - next year, the convention will take place from 17 to 21 August.
