The information dump on the Galaxy S24 series is picking up and for all the right reasons. The phones will debut on January 17, next month, and every day, we are getting to hear new information about what the phones will deliver. The latest report, however, might not sit well with everyone.
Galaxy S24 could skip satellite connectivity despite having the hardware for it
It appears that Samsung is ditching the idea of bringing satellite communication to the Galaxy S24 series, which is sad because One UI 6.1 already has traces of the feature available, but based on the information coming out of South Korea, Samsung has decided against it.
The report we have suggests that Samsung has sent a Galaxy S24 Ultra to three networks in South Korea. You have KT, LG Uplus, and SK Telecom. This is common practice for all major smartphone manufacturers to do - the phone is housed in a lunchbox-shaped case to prevent leaks from happening, but the outlets are now reporting that the phone does not have a satellite connectivity option anywhere on the device.
Now, I would not really advise anyone to go ahead and start believing that the Galaxy S24 series does not have satellite connectivity. Mainly because the device could simply be running software that is not ready for primetime, and Samsung will ship the feature in the final build of the software. However, if I am being realistic, there is a possibility that the company has decided to ditch the feature altogether, which might upset some fans.
Satellite connectivity is not the absolute-have feature of any smartphone, but considering how almost everyone has decided to introduce something like this, it is concerning to see Samsung not featuring it in the first place on the Galaxy S24 series. As for the actual truth, we will not be able to tell what the situation is like until the Galaxy S24 series goes official on January 17.
Do you think satellite connectivity is something that you want in a smartphone, or could you live just fine without it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
