Galaxy Ring Will Not Work On iPhones, Samsung Executive Hopes You Shift To A Samsung Phone To Use It

Samsung Galaxy Ring launching in H2 2024, says new rumor

The Galaxy Ring is easily one of the most impressive products that I am waiting for from Samsung. I understand that, at the end of the day, it's just a smart ring, and we already have a couple from Oura available in the market. However, the reason why I am excited about Samsung's offering is that it will complete the Galaxy ecosystem. Sadly, if you are on iOS and waiting for the ring to drop, we have some bad news as it will not work on iPhones.

Samsung's ambitious claims about how good the Galaxy Ring is have me worried and excited at the same time

Samsung Vice President Hon Pak revealed that although the company is working to ensure that non-Galaxy Android devices have support for Galaxy Ring, the same is not going to be said about support for iOS. Pak's reasoning is actually very bold, as he mentioned that “we recognize the iOS/Android challenge, and we ultimately hope that our devices are of such caliber that people will be willing to switch.”

Looking at this, the claim basically says that Samsung is hoping that the Galaxy Ring is so good and of such high caliber that non-Samsung users are tempted to switch over from their iPhones. I do understand where Samsung is coming from, but my concern is whether people would be willing to leave one established ecosystem for another that is still trying to establish itself on the same level.

Don't get this statement wrong, I love Samsung, but at the same time, I do understand that if there is one thing that Apple does better than Samsung, it is the ecosystem. The South Korean giant still has some catching up to do, and the Galaxy Ring on its own, no matter how incredible, is not going to be the only reason for users to switch over to the Galaxy ecosystem. Especially when there are other smart rings available in the market that work with all the platforms.

The Galaxy Ring will debut in the second half of this year, possibly in July, and it will debut alongside the new foldable phones and the new wearables. Samsung claims that it can work in tandem with the Galaxy Watch, or you can just use it on your own without having any issues. As always, we will share more details with you once we have them, so stay tuned!
