Galaxy A8 (2018) & Galaxy A8+ (2018) Official: Infinity Display, Dual Front-Camera and Other Premium Features Come to Mid-Ranged Phones

After a profound number of leaks, Samsung’s Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) are officially here. Featuring powerful hardware and Infinity Display, both phones resemble the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Expected for a CES 2018 launch, premium design and features are a huge aspect for the pair as well.

During the announcement, Samsung was excited to tell that both phones bring the best of features that have been taken from flagship devices.

“With the release of the Galaxy A8(2018) and A8+(2018), we’re bringing our customers’ favorite features from our flagship smartphones, such as the Infinity Display and our first Dual Front Camera with Live Focus, to our Galaxy A series, which is already known for its premium design. The Galaxy A8(2018) and A8+(2018) exemplify our continued dedication to meeting the needs of our consumers by providing them with greater choice and convenience.”

Coming straight to the camera, you get a 16MP F/1.7 rear camera and 16MP+8MP F/1.9 dual front-facing shooters. This dual front camera comprises up of two separate cameras so you can switch between the two to take the type of selfie you want. This will range from close-ups with the background to portrait shots with a clear and crisp background. With the advanced Live Focus, you can effortlessly adjust the bokeh effect before or after taking the picture for creating high-quality images.

Both the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) get the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The bigger phone is offered with more RAM. For the processor, you get two core clusters. These are an octa-core CPU with a dual-core 2.20GHz high-performing core and a hexa-core one with a speed of 1.60GHz.

Both phones are IP68 water-resistant and have a Type-C USB port for charging purposes. Unfortunately, there is no support for wireless charging added. Both devices will also be running Android 7.1.1 but we should be seeing a software update in the near future. The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) also support Samsung Pay and through the use of NFC you can securely make payments.

For all of the remaining specifications of both smartphones, check out the image given at the top. All smartphones arrive in four flavors: black, orchid grey, gold and blue. They will be available in January 2018.
