A new photo of the upcoming foldable Motorola RAZR has been found on Weibo, a popular social media platform in China. Motorola is announcing its new foldable RAZAR smartphone on November 13 in Los Angeles, where the company says it will unveil 'an original unlike any other'.

User Sunniton posted the photo on Weibo, which shows someone holding the new RAZR. The photo is kind of like a blurry potato cam shot, but it gives a good enough idea of what the phone will actually look like. Unlike Samsung and Huawei's foldable phones, the new Motorola RAZR screen will fold vertically, similar to how the 'retro' RAZR phones used to function.

Previously, a bunch of RAZR press photos were leaked by renowned leakster, Evan Blass. The press shots confirm the clamshell design with two displays, like its predecessor: one large display on the inside, and one display for notifications and media controls on the outside, to be used when the phone is closed. It is also expected that the phone will be priced at $1500 and availability might start from February 2020. This is a very high price for a smartphone, but compared to Samsung Fold's $1,980 and Huawei Mate X's $2,600, this might be the cheapest foldable in the market.

The original Motorola RAZR V3 phone was one of the most popular feature phones of its time. It had a unique thin design, with the same clamshell body that the new RAZR is going for. It quickly gained the status of a fashion icon after launch, with a high price tag, but Motorola lowered the price over time, and eventually ended up selling 130 million units. Although Motorola resurrected RAZR again as an Android smartphone with the name Droid RAZR, it did not live up to the success of the original.

Even though the new RAZR will be a flagship phone, its specifications, as leaked by XDA, just scream midrange:

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 710
  • GPU: Qualcomm’s Adreno 616
  • RAM: 4/6GB
  • Storage: 64/128GB
  • Battery: 2,730mAh
  • Primary Display: 6.20-inch 876×2142
  • Closed Display: Unknown size, 600×800
  • Colors: White, Black, Gold

For a $1500 phone, these are extremely underwhelming specifications. We hope that XDA are wrong on this one. Motorola's press event is on November 13, so we will be getting all the actual details really soon.

Would you be interested in buying a $1500 RAZR or would you wait for the price to go down?
