The development of the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster leaked a few years back is continuing, according to a reliable source.

Speaking on X/Twitter, well-known leaker Midori revealed that development of the remaster is proceeding, and it isn't one of the projects Square Enix canceled recently as part of the publisher strategy shift from quantity to quality.

While Midori did not provide any additional information on the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, it is still good to know it hasn't been canceled. A new entry in the series of some sort was also teased a few times in the past by the Theathrythm Final Bar Line producer Ichiro Hazama and by Final Fantasy XIV, XVI director, and producer Naoki Yoshida, so there's no doubt that something is definitely brewing. Hopefully, it will be a labor of love like Tactics Ogre: Reborn, released back in 2022. You can learn more about the remaster of the game created by the same man behind the Final Fantasy Tactics series, Yasumi Matsuno, in my review.

With many gameplay changes that restore the original's great pacing without doing away with the deeper customization options introduced in the PSP remake, one of the best stories ever seen in tactical role-playing games and an amazing reworked soundtrack, Tactics Ogre: Reborn is, without a doubt, the definitive version of Let Us Cling Together. While some of the gameplay changes aren't exactly for the best, they are only minor issues in an experience that continues to be excellent even 27 years after its original debut
