Exynos 2500 Could Use Google’s TPU For AI Acceleration, Making It Really Efficient With Generative AI

Now that AI has become a mainstay in the tech world, it is safe to say that more and more companies are implementing their own version. Samsung really did a great job with the Exynos 2400 and carried out a bunch of AI-related features with Galaxy AI. However, it is evident that the company is not done, as a new tip has surfaced suggesting how the Exynos 2500 could use Google's TPU for AI acceleration. If that happens, we are in for a treat because there are going to be several AI enhancements in the Galaxy S25 devices then.

Samsung's Exynos 2500 could be a real winner as long as the company plays its cards right

Now, for those wondering, the TPU or Tensor Processing Unit first debuted in the Pixel 6 with the release of the first generation of the Tensor processor, and over the past couple of years, it has only improved. The Tensor chipsets are made in collaboration with Samsung, so it is safe to say that Samsung can efficiently use the same processing unit when it comes to the Exynos 2500.

If Samsung does go on that path and decides to use Google's TPU for the Exynos 2500, this will mean that the Galaxy S25 series will have unadulterated machine-learning APIs that will be able to run various models on the device. For those who don't know, the Galaxy AI, despite being powerful, is largely based on the cloud, but with a dedicated TPU on the chipset, the AI capabilities will become even more powerful, and I am all for it.

The post also suggests that the Exynos 2500 will have two neural processing units: one will be G-NP, and the other will be S-NPU. The chipset is going to debut in the Galaxy S25 series, and Samsung will be using a combination just like it did this year with the Galaxy S24 series, so if you are looking forward to a phone with more AI prowess, you might want to hold.

The Exynos 2500 is currently being tested, and considering how Samsung is really focusing on making sure that its in-house chipset has the prowess that users are looking for, I am really hoping that the results are promising and we really get something solid from the South Korean firm going forward.
