Though the Apple Watch is a perfect workout companion but it does have its set of flaws. For instance, if you wish to track your heart rate for an extended period of time, you have to kick off an active workout session. Once that is done, the heart rate data gathered is really not that detailed and the workout session adds unwanted progress to your activity rings too. So, in order to combat this, developer Zach Simone has released a new, free app for the iPhone and Apple Watch called HeartMonitor.
There are two parts to this app – one is the Apple Watch bit which tracks your heart rate and the iPhone is used to view the gathered data in a far more detailed manner. The most interesting thing about this app is that whenever you initiate a heart rate tracking session, the app almost does not add any progress towards your activity or exercise rings. After all, you’re just tracking your heart rate, not a mountain climb while sitting in a chair.
