DIY-APE DIY's An MSI B650 Motherboard With Connector-Less Design & Massive Heatsinks

DIY-APE has been making some custom motherboards for a while now & the most recent additions have started utilizing a connector-less design. The latest product in its portfolio is an AM5-based B650 motherboard which supports AMD Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs. The motherboard comes from MSI but has been customized by DIY-APE to meet their design requirements. We talked to some board makers to confirm if they were supplying these boards to DIY-APE but were told that all of these designs are unofficial and not partnered with them making them a pure DIY solution that's being offered to consumers.

So coming back to the motherboard, the DIY-APE AMD B650 motherboard features the AM5 socket which features a 12+2+1 phase design, similar to the MSI MAG B650M Mortar. It carries two DDR5 DIMM slots which support up to 128 GB capacities and 6000 Mbps+ OC speeds (EXPO). The board has a single PCIe 4.0 x16 and a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. There are at least two M.2 NVMe slots hidden under the large aluminum heatsink.

All of DIY-APE's motherboards feature massive aluminum heatsinks and a variety of color options to select from. They not only look great but provide better cooling to the components under them. The main highlight of the motherboard is that it comes with no connectors on the front. All power plugs, I/O, and fan headers are shifted to the back of the PCB which means a compatible PC chassis is a requirement here. It will definitely be hard to find a case that is compatible with the board but AORUS and ASUS do have chassis available for their own products that should be compatible with this board.

As for pricing, the DIY-APE AMD AM5 B650 motherboard retails for 1349 RMB or $195 US. DIY-APE provides combo options where it bundles a compatible chassis with the motherboard. Their most cheapest bundle option is available for 1538 RMB which is around $220 US. The ASUS A21 Black is also bundled for a price of 1649 RMB or $235 US. These products are mostly limited in China and Asian markets for now.
