CyanogenMod 7.1 Release Candidate 1 now available for download

Jun 29, 2011

If you're an Android user keen on experimenting with different ROMs, there is very little chance you would not have come across CyanogenMod ROM. It's by far the most widely used ROM right now which is greatly due to the fact that it's available for the widest variety of Android phones at the moment. Stripped of all bloatware that usually accompanies propriety UIs (hint: Blur) it presents you an Android experience that's fast, stable and visually stock like. Of course all that is accompanied by an infinite amount of tweaks and features here and there.

Version 7.0, based on Android 2.3.3 was the last final release for this particular ROM.  V7.1 nightly had been out for a while but now that all major bugs have been ironed out, the RC1 is available for download. V7.1 is based on Android 2.3.4 and brings a host of new features over 7.0 like video/voice chat over gtalk. Please note that while all major bugs are ironed out and even though RC1 is usable as a day to day ROM, it's not the final version, so expect a few niggles here and there; and as always, flash at your own risk!
