Corsair has unveiled its flagship Gen5 SSD, the MP700 PRO SE, featuring blazing-fast speeds and available in both liquid and air-cooled variants.

It's no surprise that Corsair has created such a fast NVMe drive, competing with top contenders in the industry, such as Crucial's T705 or Sabrent's recently released Rocket 5. This is the third variant in the firm's original MP700 lineup, with the "SE" branding to showcase exclusive features that set it apart from other siblings. Let's dive into what the SSD offers, & you'll be surprised with the speeds onboard, that's for sure.

Corsair's MP700 PRO SE Gen5 SSD features sequential read and write speeds of 14,000 MB/s and 12,000 MB/s, respectively, which puts it at the top of the list. It comes slightly behind Crucial's T705 in real-time benchmarks, which we'll disclose later. Apart from that, the drive comes with random read and write speeds of 1.7 million IOPS and 1.6 million IOPS, respectively, hence maxing out on everything the PCIe 5.0 standard is capable of.

The MP700 PRO SE's more appealing factor is its utilization of Phison's Max14um PS5026-E26 PCIe Gen5 x4 controller, which is similar to what we see in competitors such as Sabrent's Rocket 5 and justifies the read/write speeds. Moreover, the drive comes with Micron's B58R 232-Layer TLC, yet again, the same as what the other high-end SSDs out there offer.

Now, moving on to my favorite part, featuring such high transfer speeds isn't easy to do, even on a consumer end. Apart from the high-end components needed to achieve such milestones, a decent cooling solution is also required. To cater to this, like its other siblings, the MP700 SE PRO also comes with its dedicated "Hydro X" heatsink, which essentially slaps a water block on top of the heatsink. The heatsink can be paired with a custom loop using two standard 1/4″ fittings. Those who aren't water-cooling their PCs get an active-cooled heatsink, which also features an oversize aluminum block that sits over the SSD.

In terms of pricing, Corsair's MP700 SE PRO hasn't been officially listed by the firm itself, but the SSD does come in both 2 TB and 4 TB configurations which are priced at $344.99 & $639.99 US, respectively in the Hydro X configuration. The heatsink-less variant of the 4 TB SSD retails for $624 US. No pricing for the 2 TB heatsink-less variant is mentioned.
