Recently Larian Studios made the surprise announcement that Baldur’s Gate 3 would not be getting any major story-driven DLC, as they’re moving on to a pair of original projects, but that doesn’t necessarily mean updates are ending. In fact, in a new blog post Larian has provided some fresh details about what players can expect from Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 7, which is currently in the works.

Perhaps the headline addition will an array of new darker endings for those who chose to embark on particularly evil playthroughs.

“We’re working on our next game update, Patch 7, which will add improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs, and yes, that includes you non-Durge players. These new cinematic cutscenes have also been given the musical treatment by our very own BAFTA award-winning composer, Borislav Slavov.”

In addition to the improved endings, players can expect the rollout of official mod tools, bug fixes, and more.

“Patch 7 also aims to fix several bugs that you have reported, including Jaheira’s unwillingness to follow the group and jump into combat, Wyll’s less-than-romantic greetings, as well as the mysteriously disappearing Narrator lines from the Gortash and Dark Urge confrontation, to name a few. This next patch will also begin introducing our official modding tools, letting you change up visuals, animations, sounds, stats, and more to overhaul Baldur’s Gate 3 into the weird nightmare realm of your dreams.”

It sounds like Update 7 may be the last one to offer significant new story and content, although Larian promises crossplay, photo mode, and the usual bug fixes, performance improvements, and maintenance updates and tweaks will come after that…

“Beyond Patch 7, we will continue focusing on bug fixes, performance enhancements, and stability improvements to ensure you have the best possible experience. And yes, we are also actively working on bringing Crossplay and a Photo Mode to Baldur’s Gate 3, but the work required to bring these to you means that these additions will likely be further down the road.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 can be played on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. No word yet on when Update 7 might arrive, but Larian promises to share details about a closed beta for the update in “the coming weeks.”
