Yesterday, the New York Videogame Critics Circle (NYVGCC) announced the winners of the 13th annual New York Game Awards in a dedicated ceremony streamed live from the SVA Theatre, with Baldur's Gate 3 once again emerging as the big winner.

Larian's excellent triple-A cRPG managed to win the Game of the Year award as well as the 'Herman Melville' award for Best Writing. Baldur's Gate 3 wasn't the only game to bring two prizes home, however, as Remedy's Alan Wake 2 won the 'Statue of Liberty' award for Best World. It also brought home the 'Great White Way' award for Best Acting thanks to Melanie Liburd as co-protagonist Saga Anderson. It's too bad that Alan Wake 2 sales don't seem to be nearly as successful as the critical reception.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom didn't win anything at the New York Game Awards. However, Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. Wonder succeeded in the Best Kids Game category. Other critical darlings like Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Chants of Sennar, Resident Evil 4, Asgard's Wrath 2, Hi-Fi Rush, and Slay the Princess each won one award. HoYoverse's Honkai Star Rail was declared the Best Mobile game released last year.
