ASUS has never been the one to shy away from experimenting with unique laptop offerings, with its previous Zenbook Duo iteration offering a dual-screen experience, though ergonomically, it was challenging for most people as the keyboard had been shifted to the palm rest. With the 2024 model, the design has been revamped, with the Taiwanese firm thinking out of the box to offer more screen real estate, coupled with a detachable keyboard. Since every user will shift to a different orientation for work, media consumption, or even gaming, ASUS offers five different modes, depending on your preference.
The 2024 Zenbook Duo does not compromise on performance or battery life, with ASUS claiming double-digit endurance
The entire model sports the designation number UX8406, with the Zenbook Duo sporting a 14-inch display with either a 1920 x 1200 OLED 60Hz panel or a crisp 2880 x 1880 OLED option with a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It can be equipped with either an Intel Core Ultra 7 or the Core Ultra 9, with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, but there is also a 16GB option that can be had for a lower price, but keep in mind that the RAM cannot be upgraded, so you will have to pick up your configuration of choice at the time of purchase.
As we have mentioned previously, the keyboard assembly is attached to the bottom half of the Zenbook Duo through magnets, but it can be removed at will and can function wirelessly as part of ASUS’ features set. In fact, the image below reveals the number of orientations that can be tried out, depending on your choice, though we believe that using the laptop in clamshell mode will still be preferred by the majority of users who pick this up.
Regardless of the over-engineering from ASUS side, the Zenbook Duo still manages to sport a decent 75WHr battery, with the company claiming that the notebook can last an impressive 13 hours on a single charge with a single display active. With both displays running, you can get around 10 hours, though independent testing will reveal the actual endurance of the Zenbook Duo. For I/O, you get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and one HDMI 2.1 port, which is not precisely versatile, but with the inclusion of Thunderbolt, a ton of doors can open when it comes to expandability.
ASUS has not revealed the pricing of the Zenbook Duo. Still, given the amount of work that went into making this machine, it will not be going easy on your wallet, but for those with deep pockets who do not want to try out another boring laptop, this one is definitely going to be your next upgrade.
