ASUS Brings Back MATRIX With Its ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 "30th Anniversary Edition" Graphics Card, Up To 800W Power & 323 MHz Factory Overclock

The day is finally here, the return of the ASUS Matrix series. Today, ASUS celebrates the 30th Anniversary of its "MATRIX" series with the launch of the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 "30th Anniversary Edition" graphics card.

Starting with the features, the ASUS ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 30th Anniversary Edition graphics card comes with the iconic red and black color scheme that ASUS is known for. The card features a quad-fan cooling design, which increases air-flow and air-pressure by up to 20%. The front faces three fans, while the third fan is featured on the back of the card. It acts like a push-pull design, with the top fan pushing air towards the fourth fan on the back, which vents hot air out.

With four axial-tech fans, ASUS brings lots of cooling performance, and it also does so in fashion with Aura Lightning support. The whole card features the red/black aesthetic and even comes with an ARGB-Lit infinity mirror on the back, which displays the "MATRIX" logo.

ASUS is also making full use of its latest BTF design by equipping the card with a GC-HWPR 2.5 connector in addition to the standard 16-pin connector. You can use a GC-HPWR adapter for a connector/cable-free design on ASUS's BTF motherboards. The connector also allows the GPU to pull up to 800W of power, offering a 10% performance boost.

ASUS is also using a premium PCB design on its ROG MATRIX RTX 5090 graphics card. The PCB involves a 3 Oz Copper PCB layer, which enhances heat dissipation and reduces voltage drops. This provides better OC potential. The GPU is also plastered with Liquid Metal TIM, while a vapor chamber is used for a better contact surface. The heatsink features densely packed fins, more than the ROG Astral series, offering a 10 percent increase in surface area.

The RTX 5090 ROG MATRIX features a massive 323 MHz factory overclock with a maximum clock speed of 2730 MHz using the OC BIOS. The whole card measures 357.6 x 149.3 x 76mm and comes in a 3.8-slot form factor. ASUS isn't sharing details on the pricing and availability, but we can expect this to be a limited model with just 1000 units produced throughout its lifetime, and with pricing north of $2500 US.
