A road bike owner was doing his usual rounds around the Golden Gate Bridge when a separate car “sideswiped” him, turning the incident into a “hit and run” case. Thankfully, had it not been for the Apple Watch Ultra, the bike rider’s arm would have been filled with a multitude of cuts and bruises. The only downside is that the smartwatch bore the majority of the damage and is now rendered useless.
The only damage the Apple Watch Ultra owner received was a few cuts caused by the titanium Milanese strap
The build quality of Apple products goes all the way to 11, and the Apple Watch Ultra is no exception. Best of all, the wearable’s bulky exterior can become a deterrent against accidents, which is how Redditor “fortuna_cookie” came out relatively unscathed except for a few cuts he received thanks to the titanium Milanese strap.
“My chunky titanium AWU took direct and full impact of my fall, which thankfully saved my arm from full contact to the pavement. The only cuts / bruises I have is actually from the titanium Milanese snapping (my bruise / cuts on my wrist is actually in the pattern of the Milanese and there’s torn skin shredded by the band.”
The impact absorbed by the Apple Watch Ultra also protected the owner from road burns or a dislocated elbow, which would have resulted in a massive hospital bill, not to mention the extensive time required for recovery. With the Apple Watch Ultra receiving irreparable damage, the bike rider believes that it’s now time for an upgrade, which is why he’s seeking advice from his fellow Redditors on which upgrade would be perfect for him.
Given that the Apple Watch Ultra became his guardian angel, it might be a great idea to invest in one again. However, this time, things should be a little different, and by subscribing to AppleCare+, the smartwatch owner can receive a timely replacement with the least amount of headaches.
