The Apple Vision Pro features an external battery puck that delivers power when the mixed-reality headset has to be used without its power brick. However, in an attempt to keep the weight of the head-mounted wearable as low as possible, Apple made the experience somewhat encumbered thanks to a cable that runs across the bulky cell. It was previously believed that the battery comes tethered to the headset, but one user reveals that it can be removed by using something as simple as a SIM ejecting tool.
The battery puck of the Apple Vision Pro is connected via a Lightning port, not a USB-C port
An Apple Vision Pro user, Ray Wong, uploaded a picture on X, showing that the battery puck can be safely removed with a SIM ejecting tool, though the end of the cable is pretty much typical Apple behavior. Even with the EU breathing down hard on the California-based giant, it managed to squirm its way past the new mandate and attached a Lightning cable right at the end, though it should be noted that the headset is yet to be sold outside of the U.S.
It appears that this design was implemented entirely by choice because, assuming the battery stops holding the same charge after continuous use, it can be hot-swapped seamlessly. To increase the total runtime on the Apple Vision Pro, the company is selling battery puck modules separately for $199.99, indicating that this component was meant to be removed and attached at will.

When the Apple Vision Pro is getting readied for the European markets, a simple cable swap to USB-C is what might just be required to prevent any sales ban, which would be a clever tactic by the company.
Fortunately, the modified Lightning cable attached to the Apple Vision Pro features a braided cover, so it will take a while before it receives significant wear and tear to the point that it needs immediate replacement. Given that the battery can be ejected, users would appreciate removing some heft from the device while the Apple Vision Pro is hooked to the wall.
