eSIMs are slowly replacing physical SIM cards, and I am all for it. Even though in my region, eSIM transfer is not something that comes for cheap, I cannot wait for the time it becomes a universal standard, and all the regions around the world follow the same standard. Keeping the trend alive, Google has decided that it is going to start focusing on delivering an eSIM transfer tool that is going to be available to all Android users, but at the time of writing, the functionality is limited.

eSIMs are finally becoming commonplace on Android as transfer tools become common across the board

Based on a new report, a Galaxy S24 Ultra user was setting up their device and received an option to transfer their eSIM from their older device by scanning a QR code. The source even managed to get their hands on the screenshot of the pop-up to appear on the Pixel 8 Pro from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and vice-versa. If this starts rolling out to everyone, you are going to see this become a standard and will see this feature in more phones coming in the future.

It is also worth noting that Samsung released its own SIM transfer tool with One UI 5.1, and the process of transferring eSIM from one Android device to another was only limited to Galaxy devices. However, it now appears that with the latest change, the functionality is going on a wider level, with more devices getting the support.

At the time of writing, it is worth noting that the eSIM transfer is only possible for T-Mobile users. However, considering how this feature is slowly becoming mainstream, we are going to see this become commonplace for a lot of other devices, as well. I am hoping for a future where transferring your eSIM profiles across devices is easy for everyone. We are going to keep everyone posted going forward.
