AMD is pricing the Ryzen 9800X3D higher than its predecessor, which was expected as per the previous reports.

AMD Ryzen 9800X3D CPU will be priced closer to $500 and is set to launch on 7th November

Various reports and speculations previously suggested that AMD will price the upcoming Ryzen 9800X3D processor higher than its predecessor. This is reportedly true as one of the prominent leakers has confirmed the price of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in a recent X post.

The user @AnhPhuH(Hoang Anh Phu) announced today that the AMD Ryzen 9800X3D will cost $30 more than the Ryzen 7800X3D. The leaker has been accurate in his reports, which also included leaks on already launched AMD X3D processors. It was already rumored before that the 9800X3D would cost somewhere between $450 and $500, and as per some early listings, we have seen the CPU go live in some retail stores for $480+.

The processor was also recently listed on some EU retailers, but the prices included 20% VAT and were much higher than the previous listing. Nonetheless, it's safe to assume that the CPU will remain under $500 and is more expensive than all the previous 800-series X3D chips, including Ryzen 5800X3D and Ryzen 7800X3D.

Both CPUs were launched at $449 and brought 8 cores/16 thread configurations. The Ryzen 9800X3D also brings an equal core/thread count but will feature significantly higher clock speeds, which have proved to outperform even the non-X3D counterpart quite easily. It's expected that the Ryzen 9800X3D won't just exceed the gaming performance of 7800X3D, but will also be significantly faster in synthetic benchmarks.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is going to be targeted at enthusiast gamers and will feature a slightly different die design than Ryzen 5000X3D and 7000X3D CPUs. Unlike previous X3D chips, the 3D chiplet won't be stacked on top of the CCD but will rather sit underneath it. It will feature a base clock of 4.7 GHz and a boost clock of 5.2 GHz, which, too, can be surpassed with overclocking, as we have seen the chip hitting over 5.6 GHz with PBO.

AMD is reportedly launching the CPU on 7th November, but the reviews will go live a day before. While the price has been increased slightly, we have usually seen Ryzen X3D chips selling like hotcakes due to their impressive gaming performance and extraordinary power-efficiency.
