New performance results of AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 8700G, Ryzen 5 8600G & Ryzen 5 8500G APUs have been spotted in various benchmark leaks.

AMD Ryzen 8000G APU Benchmarks Leak Out: Ryzen 7 8700G, Ryzen 5 8600G, Ryzen 5 8500G Almost As Good As Ryzen 7000X Offerings In CPU Tests

The AMD Ryzen 8000G APU family codenamed Hawk Point launches next week and brings with it a brand new CPU and GPU architecture on the APU front. The last APUs released by AMD were on the older AM4 platform and part of the Ryzen 5000G family which featured Zen 3 CPU cores & the Vega GPU core. For Hawk Point, AMD is upgrading directly to the brand new Zen 4 CPU and RDNA 3 GPU architecture which brings a huge boost in performance on the latest AM5 platforms that carry DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 functionality.

The benchmarks of the DIY trio, the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G, Ryzen 5 8600G, & Ryzen 5 8500G have now been spotted in the PassMark software database. The Ryzen 7 8700G scores 32117 points in multi-threaded, the Ryzen 5 8600G scores 25967 points while the Ryzen 5 8500G scores 21796 in the same tests.

If you look at the performance figures, the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G APU is around 11% slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X but that should be expected given its lower clock speeds and lower TDP design. The Ryzen 5 8600G offers around the same performance as the Ryzen 5 7600X while the Ryzen 5 8500G is around 16% slower once again due to its lower clock speeds. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 7 8700G APU will offer up to a 30% boost over the 5700G while the Ryzen 5 8600G APUs will also offer a 30% core performance boost over its predecessor, the 5600G.

We also have a test result within CPU-z for the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G which has been leaked out and spotted by Momomo_US. This test gives us a taste of both the single and multi-core performance of the chip. In single-core, the CPU scores 675 points while in multi-core, it scores 7318 points. The single-core performance takes a hit over the Ryzen 7000X CPUs but it still retains good multi-thread performance and offers a 10% average boost in this specific test.

We have also seen other benchmarks where the AMD Ryzen 8000G APUs are over 60% faster than the Ryzen 5000G chips. The Ryzen 8000G APUs do have some limitations when it comes to PCIe 4.0 discrete and M.2 support which is more noticeable on the two lower-end SKUs, the 8500G & 8300G but besides that, you will be able to make some great budget builds out of these chips on the AM5 socketed platforms.

The integrated graphics is a superb addition with performance that could rival an NVIDIA GTX 1650 or RX 480 graphics card and for those who want to upgrade to a discrete GPU, these chips have the muscles to support the top offerings from AMD and NVIDIA. The Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 8000G APUs will be launching to DIY markets on 31st January while the Ryzen 3 8300G will be an OEM offering for a short duration and is expected to enter the DIY markets by the end of the year.
