The Warcraft 3 Reforged Multiplayer beta will be kicking off later this week, Blizzard has announced.
The news was announced on Blizzard’s official website ahead of this year’s Blizzcon event in Anaheim, California. The multiplayer beta will include limited access to the orc and human races within 1v1 and 2v2 matchmaking. According to Blizzard, the Night Elf and Undead races will be added to the beta in the coming weeks alongside more game modes.
Invitations for the beta will be sent out in the weeks ahead, but various users are already reporting having received their invite. “Initial invitations will go out in waves to those who have pre-purchased the Spoils of War edition of the game and subsequent waves of invitations will go to additional players, such as those who have pre-purchased the standard edition of Warcraft III: Reforged”, Blizzard mentions.
Blizzard officially announced the reimagined version of both Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne at Blizzcon 2018.
For Warcraft III: Reforged, every character, structure, and environment has been recreated to emphasize the depth, dimension, and personality of this rough-hewn world. The Warcraft III saga, which spans more than 60 campaign missions, enjoys an epic retelling in Reforged, with over four hours of updated in-game cutscenes and rerecorded voice-overs that breathe new life into the earliest renditions of key characters like Sylvanas Windrunner and Arthas Menethil.
‘Warcraft III is monumentally important to us here at Blizzard, and its influence is evident in everything we’ve done since,’ said J. Allen Brack, President of Blizzard Entertainment upon the game's announcement. ‘A project like Warcraft III: Reforged isn’t something we undertake lightly, partly because of this legacy, but more importantly, because we know what it means to our players."
Warcraft 3 Reforged is slated for a release on PC later this year.
