Vision Pro Battery Capacity is smaller than its size and weight

Apple announced the Vision Pro headset at its WWDC event in June last year. More than six months later, the headset is scheduled to launch on February 2. The company is creating hype for the device as it is the first major product launch after the launch of the Apple Watch in 2015. The Vision Pro handles mixed reality quite well, but there are concerns regarding its battery life. Apple states that the external battery pack will deliver up to 3 hours of battery life, depending on the use case. We have now discovered that the Vision Pro's battery pack has a mediocre capacity compared to its weight.

The Vision Pro media reviews are now out, and you can check them in our dedicated roundup post. The reviews and unboxing videos shared details that Apple did not announce on stage last year. MKBHD's latest unboxing video of the Vision Pro uncovered that the Vision Pro features a measly 3,166 mAh battery capacity. However, the YouTuber mentions that the external battery pack is surprisingly heavy, even heavier than some smartphones with a 5,000 mAh battery.

Apple states that the external battery pack will deliver 2 to 3 hours of use. If the user chooses to play games on the Vision Pro, the battery will last even shorter. However, general web browsing and media consumption will last up to 3 hours. However, Apple could have increased the battery capacity since the external battery pack holds a bit of heft. This would have allowed the Vision Pro to last a few hours longer than it currently does.

Apple could increase the external battery pack's capacity in future models of the Vision Pro, which will also feature more power-efficient chips and additional components to consume less power. This will allow the device to last a few hours longer than the first-gen product. It remains to be seen if Apple's battery life claims are on par with real-world usage. We will share more details on the subject as soon as the Vision Pro is available to the general public. As mentioned, the Vision Pro will launch on Friday, February 2.
