Apple updates codebase with new Audio product, likely the AirPods Pro 3 with new audio and health features

Apple is rumored to be working on a new smart home hub device that will connect and respond to all compatible accessories. The device is slated to be a tablet that can be mounted on a wall, and it could be part of the company's plans to expand its suite of Home-based devices. This includes the company's unreleased Smart Home Hub device, which will be a hybrid of the iPad and the HomePod. Apple is also working on new AirPods, which will potentially arrive later this year, and today, the company has updated its codebase with a reference to an unreleased audio product, which we presume is the AirPods Pro 3.

Apple's latest codebase update reveals a mysterious new audio device, possibly the AirPods Pro 3, with potential health and audio upgrades

Apple's AirPods lineup is quite popular in the audio space, and the 'Pro' models have also stepped into the health industry with the Hearing Aid feature. We are eager to see what the company plans for the next generation of AirPods Pro, as rumors have pointed out that future models could be equipped with camera to detect various health metrics.

If you are not familiar, all of Apple's AirPods and Beats headphones respond to a specific Bluetooth ID number, such as 0x2024 (8228), for the AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C port. The recently updated codebase for the unreleased audio product relates to the device syncing (via MacRumors). The code includes all of the company's current wearables and an extra device. The identifier 8239 does not respond to any of the existing products that Apple sells under the AirPods or the Beats line of wearables.

The codebase does not highlight any additional details on the features and design of the product, but its mere existence tells us that a new device is on the way and could be released as soon as this year, potentially alongside the iPhone 17 lineup. While we presume that the code belongs to the unreleased AirPods Pro 3, be sure to take our speculation with a grain of salt, as the company could also be working on a new Beats-branded headset.

The AirPods Pro 3 could come with a brand-new design with exclusive features and improved audio quality. Additional existing features will potentially get an upgrade as well, including ANC, and enhanced health-related features. Which health-related features would you like to see in the next big AirPods Pro 3 upgrade?
