The Galaxy Z Flip phones are excellent devices for those who are looking for the foldable experience without spending the extra money. Samsung has been competitively pricing these for years, but some corners have been cut in the overall experience. For instance, the cameras on these clamshell foldable phones are in serious need of an upgrade, and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is going to be the first phone to make that happen.
The 50-megapixel sensor on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is a much-needed upgrade for the foldable
This is not the first time we have heard about this news. There was also a rumor in the past about how the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could finally get a camera upgrade, but that was a while ago, and after that, we stopped hearing about what the cameras would be like on the latest foldable. Things are now confirmed, as the phone has visited the Camera FV-5 platform, where the details about the phone's camera were confirmed.
Now, the camera is marked as a 12.5-megapixel unit, but that is because it will be marketed as a 50-megapixel unit with 2x2 binning — something Samsung has been doing for ages. The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 200-megapixel unit but takes pictures in more workable resolutions with the help of binning. This is good news for anyone who has been waiting for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Ultra but was not sure about the cameras that will be found on this phone. Now you know you will not get a subpar camera experience.
This leak also confirms the model number for the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The phone will carry the model number SM-F741B. Of course, this will be different for different regions, but at least we know that the phone is even closer to the official launch.
Speaking of the official launch, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is scheduled for 10th July, later this year. The launch will happen alongside other Samsung devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the much-hyped Galaxy Ring, and more. As always, we will keep you posted on all the details that we get our hands on and let you know as we learn more about what Samsung is cooking.
