T-Mobile partner responds to ongoing shady sales practices accusations

T-Mobile is not new to controversies, especially with the growing heat it has been receiving lately about internal workings leading to either employee handing in their resignation or questioning work ethics regarding shady sales tactics adopted by the company. Consumers are giving the telecommunication service a hard time over its price hike and filing a class action against it. To make matters worse, recently, some T-Mobile stores have reportedly been reselling old phones as new, stirring quite a controversy. Now, the company's partner has responded to the issue over email to its employees.

T-Mobile's Partner Company, Arch Telecom, has responded to the questionable sales situation over email to its employees

Recently, a report regarding third-party stores associated with T-Mobile practicing fishy sales tactics has received quite a backlash. Especially with repackaged returned phones by customers sold as new by the retailers. Arch Telecom was part of the controversy, and T-Mobile's partner has now responded to the accusations through an email.

As shared by Mobile Report, the T-Mobile partner company sent an email to an employee regarding the shady sales claims and presented its side of the story. Arch Telecom acknowledged that there was a discrepancy between some of the receipts and the customer's in-store transaction experience. To combat this issue, it recommended some ethical measures to ensure all accounts match up, such as:

  • Transparency in all charges incurred when customers buy or sign up for a plan
  • Only include extra products if promotions specify the inclusion of them
  • Clearly explain features and the costs when customers upgrade to avoid unexpected charges

The T-Mobile partner did not admit that any issue was going on with the current sales tactics. If anything, the company suggested that employees continue with their proper sales practices and sent mixed messages regarding their stance. They further ask employees to report any sales practices that appear shady to the HR department.

Arch Telecom's employees highlighted a GroupMe service by Microsoft that the company was using as a communication platform to mock employees who had compromised work performance. The GroupMe logs are now said to be deleted amidst the ongoing backlash, and that is not the only alarming management practice, so we might see more if the issue persists. These internal practices to give employees feedback and analyze performance were not mentioned in the email sent out. T-Mobile needs to actively play its part in resolving the ongoing issues before it potentially damages its reputation, given how unfavorable situations have been for the company lately.
