Star Wars Outlaws Slated for a Late 2024 Release According to Disney

The upcoming Star Wars Outlaws open-world adventure from Massive Entertainment is easily one of the most exciting projects on Ubisoft’s upcoming slate, but the French publisher has been somewhat sketchy about when the game may launch. The broad release window we’ve been given in 2024, but recent Ubisoft financial statements hinted an early 2024 release may have been pushed back.

Well, now we have a better idea of when Star Wars Outlaws will arrive, courtesy of the Star Wars overlords at Disney rather than Ubisoft themselves. According to a new Disney blog, Star Wars Outlaws is coming our way in late 2024…

“And for Star Wars fans – Star Wars Outlaws, the open-world Star Wars game is set to release late this year. The game lets you explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new.  You can risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. If you’re willing to take the risk, the galaxy is full of opportunity.”

Bring it on I say. The first gameplay footage of Star Wars Outlaws looked quite impressive, and Massive did a good job of bringing a current-gen-exclusive open-world based on existing IP to life recently with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Granted, Avatar also had some problems (check out my review here) but I suspect Massive will further polish and refine their licensed game formula with their first Star Wars project.
