Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is performing very well so far, having sold two million units on its launch day. The game also ranked Top 1 on Twitch on the release date (July 9) and peaked at 104K concurrent Steam users yesterday, by far the highest of any game in the franchise.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was also received positively by critics, with an 85% review score on Open Critic and 84% review score on Metacritic, making it the highest rated Assassin’s Creed game since the launch of the original Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. Here on Wccftech, the game got an 8.6/10 score from Kai Tatsumoto, who wrote:
While there is a glaring omission to the content in this package, Black Flag Resynced feels like the definitive pirate adventure that Ubisoft Montreal wanted to tell more than a decade ago. All of the improvements make this one of the best looking (and playing) Assassin's Creed adventures to date.
The game is also well-received by players with a current rating of 4.79/5 on the PlayStation Store, 4.7/5 on the Xbox Store and Mostly Positive reviews (78%) on Steam.
Martin Schelling, Head of Assassin’s Creed Brand, said in a statement:
Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours. Bringing it back with Resynced was a promise to that passion for Edward’s adventures, and to the unique sense of freedom players experienced back then. Seeing so many players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for.
Unfortunately, that didn't help Ubisoft Barcelona, which saw 51 employees cut after the game's launch.
Anyway, the next entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise, codenamed Hexe, is believed to be targeting next year. According to certain leaks, it may feature the unexpected return of Assassin's Creed II protagonist Ezio Auditore as a mentor, due to Hexe's protagonist, Anika, being tied to the Auditore bloodline.
