[Updated] Spiritual Successor to Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee Smashes Kickstarter Goal; First Gameplay Footage
Playtonic Games has revealed the first details of its upcoming spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, which is now titled - Yooka-Laylee. The platformer will be fully revealed tomorrow when the game's Kickstarter goes live. backers will be able to get a copy for $15/ £10. Yooka-Laylee will be released first on the PC, with console versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U also in the works,
Yooka-Laylee (previously ‘Project Ukulele’) is an all-new 3D platformer from the creative talent behind the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country games. Coming together to form Playtonic Games and create a spiritual successor to their most cherished work from the past!
The new heroes, Yooka (the green one) and Laylee (the wisecracking bat with big nose) were conceptualised from the ground up for stellar platforming gameplay, created by the same character artist behind the rebooted Donkey Kong family and legendary N64 heroes Banjo and Kazooie.

Yooka-Laylee certainly looks quite interesting and it would be quite nice to have this kind of game and loveable characters make a return. Many gamers today miss this type of enjoyable fun gameplay, and the cute little "mascot" characters of old are a welcome break from the violent and realistic nature of video games today.

If funded, Yooka-Laylee will be released on Windows, Mac, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U. The exact timing of each version is contingent upon the success of the Kickstarter campaign and its stretch goals.
