Sony now delivering Ice Cream Sandwich update to 2011 Xperia lineup
Sony previously delayed the Android 4.0 update for their 2011 Xperia line up of smartphones, which includes Xperia Arc S, Neo V and Ray. The delayed date of release was around mid April to May. Thankfully for whoever owns a Sony Xperia phone, the Ice Cream Sandwich update is now live and being delivered OTA. For now only the above mentioned models are receiving the update. The update is not global yet. It's thus far rolled out in Scandinavia and will spread to Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Norway.
Users in other countries will have to wait a bit longer as Sony has not provided any details regarding a global roll out. It could be done in phases to avoid any unforeseen issues. The rest of the Xperia line up which includes Xperia Arc, Play, Neo, Mini, Mini Pro, Pro and Walkman should be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update after the current batch of phones have gotten theirs. Expect a June/July release date at the earliest, provided there aren't any more delays.
