Qualcomm’s official announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Elite was quickly followed up by a series of benchmarks carried out on a reference design smartphone that features the latest chipset. In short, it obtains remarkable scores in the latest Geekbench 6 results, and competing Android flagship chipsets, including the newly unveiled Dimensity 9400, pose no threat to the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

New Geekbench 6 multi-core results show that the Snapdragon 8 Elite is now the undisputed king, with scores exceeding the 10,000 points threshold

The latest single-core and multi-core data was compiled by content creator Wekihome, showcasing how far the Snapdragon 8 Elite fared against the rest of the pack. Apart from the 24GB LPDDR5X RAM clocked in at 4,800MHz, the reference design sports a 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED screen that operates at 120Hz, along with a 3,900mAh battery and a 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. Coming to the single-core and multi-core results, the Snapdragon 8 Elite obtains 3,230 and 10,617 points, respectively, outpacing the Dimensity 9400 and last year’s Dimensity 9300+, as well as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Compared to its closest competitor, the Dimensity 9400, the Snapdragon 8 Elite has a 14 percent higher single-core score and a 17 percent lead in the multi-core category, which is impressive, considering that both chipsets are mass produced on TSMC’s latest 3nm ‘N3E’ process. The biggest performance gap was witnessed when comparing the Snapdragon 8 Elite against its immediate predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, in the multi-core results. In Geekbench 6’s single-core results, we saw a phenomenal 40 percent difference, while in the multi-threaded run, that delta increased to 47 percent.

In short, Qualcomm’s gamble of developing its custom Oryon cores has paid off significantly. However, bear in mind that these results are from the reference design version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite and when the first commercial flagship units roll out to the market, we will witness the actual performance of the chipset, so stay tuned for more updates.
