Korean chip manufacturer Samsung is eager to establish a solid footing in the US, according to the firm's job posting on its website. Samsung is currently building a high-end chip plant in Taylor, Texas, where it aims to produce leading-edge chips through advanced technologies such as the 2-nanometer chip manufacturing process. The firm hired a former TSMC sales executive earlier this year, and now, according to information gathered by the Korean Economic Daily, the firm is offering as much as $300,000 for those willing to join its sales team.

Samsung Eager To Recover US Investment Costs By Focusing Aggressively On Sales

While Samsung is the only contract chip manufacturer in the world, apart from TSMC, which offers leading-edge technologies such as 2-nanometer to customers, the firm's yields have meant that most major technology companies rely on the Taiwanese chip manufacturer for their chip needs.

Like TSMC, Samsung is also building a new chip manufacturing plant in the US as part of the government's efforts to bring leading-edge semiconductor fabrication to America. This plant is in Taylor, Texas, and is expected to kick off mass production in 2026.

However, TSMC's site in Arizona has already started to produce chips and is making 4-nanometer GPUs and processors for firms such as Apple and NVIDIA. A strong customer order flow is essential for any factory investment as it allows the contract manufacturer to recover extensive development costs easily.

To grow its customer base in the US, Samsung is aggressively hiring sales professionals in California by offering them salaries that cross $300,000. Samsung's salary offer for a foundry sales director ranges between $200,000 and $319,800, while for a senior manager within foundry customer service, the firm is offering a salary within the $180,950 to $289,050 range, as per the Economic Daily.

The publication notes that these salaries are significantly higher over their comparable roles in Samsung's home country, South Korea. Samsung is offering an account manager a salary which ranges between $140,515 to $217,485 while for a senior research manager, the highest available salary is $266,910.

These individuals will be responsible for growing Samsung's customer base in the US. TSMC's high-profile position in the contract chip fabrication industry saw the firm announce major customers such as Apple while it broke ground for its Arizona fab. Reports suggest that TSMC has already shipped the first chip wafers from the Arizona fab to its customers, and both Samsung and TSMC aim to introduce leading-edge chip manufacturing technologies at their US facilities.
