Samsung’s long-awaited Project Moohan is no longer a mystery, and just weeks before launch, a major leak has spoiled nearly everything about the company’s upcoming Galaxy XR headset. The latest information reveals a lightweight design, 4K micro-OLED display, powerful internals, and a plethora of AI features baked directly into the interface, which looks and feels more like the Vision Pro.
A major leak uncovers Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset design, specs, and launch details, showing strong competition for Apple’s Vision Pro
The leak, originally shared by Android Headlines, details nearly every aspect of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy XR headset, ranging from its design and display specifications to its software and launch timeline. Check out everything shared in the leak below for more details on what you should be looking forward to.
Design
The Galaxy XR looks refined and futuristic and pretty similar to Apple’s Vision Pro headset, featuring a curved front visor, matte metallic frame, and soft-touch interior padding. It comes in at just 545 grams, which makes it lighter than Apple’s headset, and includes a rear strap dial to adjust the tension for custom comfort preferences.
Samsung has also added ventilation slots and detachable light shields, which means that comfort is one of the main priorities of the company - something that Apple should have taken note of. While the real-world experience might differ, we can see that Samsung is aiming for users to use the headset for longer sessions.

Display and specifications
Samsung is aiming for the best visual fidelity on the market, with the Galaxy XR headset reportedly housing dual 4K micro-OLED displays with a combined 4,032 PPI. On paper, the Galaxy XR will deliver sharper details than even the Vision Pro, which has a pixel density of 3,386 PPI.
As per the leak, it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, which supports 4.3K resolution at 90 fps per eye and can handle mixed-reality rendering with ease. It remains to be seen how the headset will manage applications in the real world and how well the industry will support the headset.
In terms of sensors, the Galaxy XR headset will feature a six-camera array that handles passthrough, tracking, and mapping, while AI-based eye and hand tracking allows for intuitive navigation. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, and users can expect around two hours of active use or 2.5 hours of media playback before needing to recharge.

One UI XR
As for software, the Galaxy XR runs Samsung’s new One UI XR, an interface that amalgamates mobile familiarity with spatial computing — similar to Apple’s approach with visionOS 26. The leak shows screenshots with Camera, Gallery, Browser, YouTube, Netflix, Maps, and Google Photos floating in 3D space.
The layout is pretty similar to what you might have already seen on the Vision Pro. There is also a persistent bar that houses Google Gemini AI, system shortcuts, and search, which transforms the headset into a true Android-based computing environment.

Navigation and accessories
Samsung is bundling two 6-DoF controllers equipped with analog sticks, triggers, and tactile haptic feedback, which will provide an immersive user experience for the end user. Users can also make use of their hand gestures or voice commands, while detachable light shields block ambient glare for an immersive session.
Expected launch
According to the report, Samsung will launch the Galaxy XR headset on October 21 or 22, with pre-registrations opening mid-October. The price of the headset is slated to be around $1,800 to $2,000, which is significantly less than Apple’s Vision Pro headset’s whopping $3,499 price tag. However, it is still considerably more expensive than Meta’s new Ray-Bans with a display.
If the leak proves accurate, Samsung’s XR headset could finally give Android users a serious Vision Pro alternative. Samsung could announce a plethora of surprises that are not covered in the latest leak, so be sure to stick around if you want to see full coverage.
