The highly anticipated wearable hi-tech gadget has finally got some official approval - Samsung's top mobile executive has slipped out the news about Korean company launching its Galaxy Gear smart watch. Lee Young-Hee, the Vice President of Samsung's mobile division, confirmed the introduction of Samsung's first ever smart watch next week in September. She was giving an interview to local press when she talked about the Galaxy Gear smart watch and the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Both these devices are set to be launched at the Samsung Unpacked 2013 next week!
Samsung's third gen Galaxy Note 3 has been dominating the media share because of the huge expectations it has managed to get: the 5.6-inch giant phablet sporting 13 megapixel rear camera and more! But seems like Samsung Galaxy Gear smart watch would snatch much of that lime light being the first for many to come in wearable technology. Young-Hee did not share any details about any of these two products except breaking a rumor false. You can read about the expected features of the Galaxy Gear on our Releasing in September, Galaxy Gear Samsung Smart Watch Specs post.
Vice President commented that the wearable smart watch would NOT be sporting a flexible display as was being previously reported by many sources. She did not share any other technical specification of the Galaxy Gear but did confirm that the smart watch will be built around a modified version of the Android OS. Our sources also suggested that Galaxy Gear would be having its own app distribution suite instead of Google's Play Store.
Critics and analysts reckon that Galaxy Gear is highly likely to compliment Samsung's current and upcoming range of smart phones, powered with Android and perhaps carrying similar features. Up against the Korean company is the Cupertino based Apple having their own smart watch technology - with a handful of patents already acquired - in the pipeline. All eyes on the Samsung's event next week to start the smart-wear war!
