Every smartphone manufacturer is aiming to develop its own virtual assistant. Apple with Siri, Google with Google Assistant and Microsoft with Cortana have come a long way. However, Samsung is still seeking to improve it’s Bixby virtual assistant. Now, the company has acquired an AI startup, Kngine to further bolster Bixby in terms of functionality. With that said, Samsung has taken the entire stake in the company which is responsible for developing artificial intelligent search engine capable of understanding and answering questions. Let’s dive in to see some more details on the matter.

Kngine first started its operations in 2013 in Egypt. Initially, the AI first understands the questions and then breaks it down into several parts before it works to look for the solution. Once this is done, it goes through its knowledge graph containing conjoined information from numerous documents to find the possible and relevant answer.

A Samsung spokesperson has revealed to The Investor that the company’s venture capital unit Samsung Next has invested in the AI startup Kngine in collaboration with Vodafone Ventures Egypt in 2014. Later on, Samsung Research America took hold of a 100 percent stake in the company as of last year.
