Coffee Lake architecture is meant to improve overall system power consumption and add to overall efficiency. In the case of the 9th Gen CPUs, we are looking at a refined 14nm process which allows Intel to gain improved clock speeds and increase the number of cores within the same power envelope.

The impressive thing to note here is that the Core i9-9900KS is consuming less power than the Core i9-9900K not only at stock speeds but also when both chips are overclocked to the same frequency. It goes off to show that Intel has selected super-binned dies for the Core i9-9900KS, shaving off a good amount of watts.
