A Resident Evil Code Veronica remake has been rumored to be in the works for a while, and with the chatter coming from reputable insiders, it seemed like its reveal wouldn't be too far off in the future. According to Screenfire Germany, who correctly predicted last year's reveal of Resident Evil Requiem at Summer Game Fest, this reveal is only a few hours away.
In a new video shared a few days back, the YouTuber believes the next remake of a classic entry in the survival horror series by CAPCOM will be announced during today's event with a "99%" probability, only to leave a margin of error for internal changes that can always alter plans. Ultimately, the YouTuber would be more surprised if it didn't show up, rather than the contrary.
If Resident Evil Code Veronica remake shows up at this year's Summer Game Fest showcase like Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is expected to, this year's edition of Geoff Keighley's event is set to be the best in years, if not the very best. For a long time, E3 was the most important gaming event of the year, a true celebration of gaming packed with all sorts of exciting reveals.
Over the years, however, the event lost its luster and was eventually canceled in late 2023. Summer Game Fest tried to fill the void the event left, but has repeatedly failed to do so with disappointing shows that last too long with very little payoff. Hopefully, this year will indeed be the year the E3 spirit comes back in some form, years after its demise.
