Renowned CAPCOM leaker Dusk Golem recently corroborated a claim from an anonymous insider that Ada Wong will appear in Resident Evil Requiem DLC. However, after Dusk Golem named that insider as his source, Reddit users went digging through the same person's post history and surfaced a series of additional CAPCOM-related claims, none of which Dusk Golem has vouched for. The leaker has since explicitly distanced himself from the two most attention-grabbing ones: "The Devil May Cry 1 Remake and RE10 protag rumor did not come from me. Typical deal of people stuffing rumors together and then claiming I said them — that happens to me all the time. I've said absolutely nothing on either topic to date."
Still, let's go into those other claims, which cover everything from a Devil May Cry 1 remake to internal project codenames, development timelines, and what's coming after the highly successful Resident Evil Requiem, which became the fastest-selling entry in CAPCOM's revered horror franchise.
The single biggest and most surprising reveal in the leak is undoubtedly that a full remake of the original Devil May Cry, first launched in 2001 for Sony's PlayStation 2, is allegedly in active development. No further details were provided, but the claim alone is significant, given that DMC has had no mainline installment since 2019's Devil May Cry 5. CAPCOM has never officially acknowledged a remake project for the action series, and this is entirely new information not previously reported by Dusk Golem or other leakers.
Devil May Cry remains far from the studio's most popular IPs (which are Resident Evil and Monster Hunter), but the most recent game was both critically acclaimed and the best-selling title in the series with around 11 million units sold, making such a project viable. Of course, the remake wouldn't be able to leverage the expertise of series shepherd Hideaki Itsuno, who directed every game except for the first installment (and the DmC title made by Ninja Theory). Itsuno left CAPCOM in 2024, shortly after the launch of Dragon's Dogma 2, and is now working on a new action game at Tencent's LightSpeed.
Aside from the news of the DMC 1 Remake, the leak provides the most complete picture yet of CAPCOM's long-term Resident Evil remake strategy, going back to a pivotal June/July 2022 meeting, where the green light was reportedly given for four major projects:
- Project Chambers — Resident Evil Zero remake
- Project Fallen — Resident Evil 1 remake
- Project Redlife — Resident Evil 10 (mainline sequel)
- Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake (no codename given)
The codenames are new, but everything else lines up almost exactly with what Dusk Golem has been saying for over a year. The leak adds that both Project Chambers (Zero) and Project Redlife (RE10) will use REX Engine, a new internal engine distinct from the RE Engine that has powered the franchise since Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
Project Redlife, the supposed codename for Resident Evil 10, is described as having Claire Redfield as its protagonist. Claire has not been a lead playable character in a mainline entry since Resident Evil: Code Veronica in 2000, making this a notable creative choice that dovetails naturally with the upcoming Code Veronica remake, which will reintroduce the character to a new generation of players. Code Veronica is also the one closest to an official announcement, with rumors pointing to next month's Summer Game Fest as the likely venue and Q1 2027 as a potential release window. Supposedly, the Zero Remake would come next in 2028, then the RE1 Remake possibly in 2029, and Resident Evil 10 around 2030.
Finally, the leak confirms that Ada Wong will appear in Resident Evil Requiem DLC, a detail Dusk Golem directly corroborated. Beyond that, the leak hints at more than one story DLC being planned for Requiem. This would be consistent with how CAPCOM handled Resident Evil Village: Winters' Expansion with its Shadows of Rose story add-on.
However, beyond Ada Wong's appearance in Requiem DLC (the one detail Dusk Golem explicitly endorsed), the rest of these claims come from an anonymous, as-of-yet unverified source. Treat them accordingly: interesting if true, but entirely unsubstantiated for now.
