iPhone sales in China have declined drastically

I love Android. I have been on Android all my life, and if you ask me to go for something else, I would not be able to do so simply because the experience and freedom you get on Android are unparalleled. However, things have started to change, and a new report shows how the top seven best-selling smartphones of last year were all iPhone devices. Yes, it is now a point where we start questioning just what exactly happened or is happening to Android. And even though I don't see myself jumping ship at any point, it is still something that concerns me.

Android phones are severely lagging behind when it comes to getting the same traction as iPhones

A report published by Counterpoint shows that the top seven best sellers in December 2023 were all iPhones. The phones range from the iPhone 14 series to the iPhone 15 series, and even the iPhone 13 is finding a place for itself. The top 10 smartphones in all of 2023 managed to have a combined market share of 20%, which increase from 19% in 2022. You can have a look at it below.

The iPhone 14 managed to become the best-selling smartphone of 2023 and captured 19% of the total iPhone sales last year. The report still makes a note of how it was not as impressive as the iPhone 13, whivh was the best seller in 2022 and managed to capture 28% of the share. Apple experienced flat sales in 2023, which might not be a good thing, but when you look at the competition, almost all the Android manufacturers experienced declined sales. The iPhone 15 series managed to take the top three spots for Q4 2023, and this could actually seep into the next year as well with continued performance.

It is not to say that Android phones did not make the cut. The list has three devices from Samsung, and all three of them are budget--the Galaxy A14 5G, the Galaxy A14 4G, and the Galaxy A04e. These devices took the bottom three spots in the top 10 list for December 2023. While the iPhone ruled the top seven. If this tells anything, it becomes evident that users use an iPhone when it is a flagship phone. This clearly shows that the faith in flagship Android phones has started to waver, and companies will need to do something to have some piece of the pie.

Do you think your preference between iPhone and Android has changed over the past couple of years? Let us know what device you have been using consistently.
