Red Dead Redemption Sales Skyrocket On Amazon Following Xbox One BC Announcement
Sales for the original Red Dead Redemption have skyrocketed since Rockstar announced that the title would be available for the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program this Friday.
Yesterday Rockstar Games announced that one of the top requested BC titles would indeed be made available this week.
“Today we’re happy to announce that Red Dead Redemption will be released as part of Microsoft’s Xbox One Backward Compatibility program this coming Friday, July 8th”, Rockstar wrote on their website.
Following the announcement, sales for the 2010 Xbox 360 title have exploded on Amazon. Both the game’s Game-of-the-Year edition, and the standard edition are taking the top spots on the ‘Movers & Shakers’ category on the Amazon website. Sales for the Game-of-the-Year edition have multiplied by nearly 5000%, while sales of the standard edition have increased by nearly 1400%.

The GOTY edition made an amazing sales rank jump from 1628 to 32, while the standard edition jumped from 595 tot 40.
The same thing occurred when Call of Duty: Black Ops was made available for Xbox One via the console’s BC feature a few months back.
Red Dead Redemption was first announced back in 2009, and is to sequel to Red Dead Revolver.
“The team at San Diego have massively exceeded our expectations with the sheer depth of experiences in Red Dead Redemption,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be.”
Red Dead Redemption released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
