Singaporean manufacturer Razer known throughout the world for its products catering to the specific needs of gamers has made some new announcements. The company is well known for its high quality products, and it looks like they've decided to try to make significant dents in the PC chassis market as well. This time, instead of directly manufacturing PC cases, Razer has decided to 'outsource' its designers to third party manufacturers. The 'Designed by Razer' program ''is open to selected case manufacturers, and it is subject to a rigorous vetting process by the award-winning Razer design and engineering team prior to approval. The new enterprise aims to take advantage of Razer's design expertise and product engineering sensibilities.'' according to the official press release.
NZXT To Launch The 'H440' Starting From
Next Month. The H440 To Be The First Case Designed and Manufactured Under The Licensing Program
Earlier this year, Razer showed off a new product in the works called 'Christine'. The Christine featured an innovative design and allowed for active liquid cooling plus noise cancellation. It allowed factory overclocking of components without cancelling any warranties. However it seems to be highly unlikely that we will be seeing the Christine in the market anytime soon. But, under the Designed by Razer program, the company has entered into a partnership with case manufacturer NZXT. NZXT will now lanuch the H440, and the case is the end result of a collaboration between the two manufacturers.
"We have some of the world's best designers and engineers working at Razer and we fully believe in advancing the industry no matter the cost, so it makes sense for us to share this knowledge with other manufacturers in our industry," said Min-Liang Tan, Razer CEO, co-founder and creative director. "It's our goal to service the needs of the hundreds of millions of gamers worldwide and a custom Razer PC case has been sought after for some time. The NZXT H440 - Designed by Razer is the first success with this program and we expect there to be many more." The NZXT H440 features trademark green Razer USB ports and green lighting that illuminates the rear ports. The design also consists of a tinted window which shows off the interior components in addition to an illuminated Razer logo.
Razer has however decided to eliminate the 5.25 inch drive bays in the NZXT H440. This is keeping in terms of the growing relevance of optical drives these days. NZXT will manufacture and distribute the product on its retail channels according to the details of the agreement. The product will be available starting next month and will have a price tag of $149.99.
