Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB Gets Snubbed While Its 16 GB Variant Sells Like Hotcakes

Whether you look at the sales stats in the NA or EU region, the Radeon RX 9060 XT 8 GB seems to be getting ignored a lot due to poor pricing.

While Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB Sells Nearly 350 Units, its 8 GB Variant Hardly Sold 5 Units in a Whole Week at Mindfactory

It's true that the 8 GB GPUs don't sell and we have the stats to back up the claim. It's not the first time we have seen 8 GB GPUs selling less than the ones with 12 GB or 16 GB VRAM but it's definitely one of the first times we are seeing 8 GB GPUs getting completely ignored. It also shows that consumers are becoming more aware of what gives them the most value for their money, which is why the Radeon RX 9070 doesn't sell much despite having 16 GB of memory.

But when it comes to the 8 GB GPUs, it's worse, be it AMD or NVIDIA. The latest sales stats for the GPUs from Mindfactory are out and we are once again, seeing 8 GB GPUs sitting almost idle on the shelves. The German retailer reveals the interest of gamers and they aren't just purchasing 'any' GPU without research. While the Radeon RX 9070 XT still takes the top spot for being the best-selling graphics card with 580 units sold in the last week, some RDNA 4 GPUs are having a hard time in sales.

The RX 9070 sold just 55 units, sitting even below the last gen RX 7800 XT, which sold 80 units. On the other hand, the RX 9060 XT 16 GB is sitting at the second spot with a good 340 unit sales. However, the 8 GB edition didn't even sell more than 5 units in a whole week, which is less than One unit per day. This is even worse than the Arc B580, which sold 15 units, and the RTX 5060, which features the same 8 GB memory capacity but sold 45 units.

The poor sales of RX 9060 XT 8 GB is mostly due to the poor pricing by AMD ($299 US), which feels similar to the RX 9070, which was priced just $50 below the RX 9070 XT. When the 16 GB edition hardly costs $50-$60 more, why would anyone settle with less, which can't run intensive titles on the max graphical presets at 1440p. As far as the sales on giant ecommerce platforms are concerned, we do have better numbers for this GPU. On Amazon US, some editions of RX 9060 XT 8 GB sell hundreds of units every month but it's still not enough to be among the top 50 selling GPUs let alone Top 10 or Top 20.

This is why we recommend settling with RX 9060 XT 16 GB in the budget category. However, there are a few more GPUs we recommend if you are on a budget, and none of them have 8 GB VRAM.
