GIGABYTE Mixes Up GeForce And Radeon Shrouds, Shipping An RTX 5060 Ti With AMD Branding To A Stunned Buyer

A person holds a Gigabyte GeForce RTX graphics card repurposed with Radeon branding on a desk next to a keyboard.

A weird incident was just reported by a Redditor, detailing how his GPU got a different shroud instead of the GeForce one.

GIGABYTE Mistakenly Swaps GeForce and Radeon Coolers on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs; Both Users Report Different Branding on Their Cards

It's rare to see such incidents, but both reports confirm that GIGABYTE indeed made a mistake in the GPU assembly. A Reddit user u/atta4821 reported that he bought a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5060 Ti from Canada Computers. Weirdly, something was unusual when he opened the box, as his GPU didn't look like an NVIDIA GPU. He reports that the GPU is indeed an NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti, but the shroud says something else.

The staff were just as confused as me since nobody had seen it before.

From what I can tell, it’s not technically a misprint. Gigabyte uses the same chassis for both their Radeon and GeForce cards, so the parts are physically interchangeable. Looks like a Radeon side piece made it onto a GeForce build at the factory. Backplate says GIGABYTE / GEFORCE RTX, side bracket says RADEON.
The card itself is definitely an RTX 5060 Ti; everything else checks out. Just has the wrong shroud piece on it.
Photos attached. Anyone seen this before?

On the backplate, it clearly mentions "GeForce RTX", but the shroud on the cooler mentions "RADEON". As per the user, it's not a misprint because GIGABYTE uses the same chassis for its NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, and somehow a Radeon one was deployed on this one. Perhaps this is why we had another Reddit user with a GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9060 XT GPU with the "GeForce" cooler. It was reported nearly five months ago, and his card's shroud probably made it to the GeForce card of u/atta4821.

I'm a bit confused, I ordered a Radeon but there was Geforce in the box! But still, on the small sticker on top of the card it says 9060xt

Both users said that their GPUs were operating fine, and they indeed turned out to be the real ones. The user u/Kermus- said his Radeon GPU was sealed, and no signs of tampering were visible. This means it's likely a mistake by the GIGABYTE GPU assembly team at their factory.
