It has only been a few months since the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus were found in a multitude of notebook models, but these chipsets are already stirring up some discussion in the technology industry as Intel’s co-CEO, Michelle Johnston Holthaus, made some bold claims that retailers were concerned about the growing number of laptops with ARM silicon being returned at a high rate. Of course, as one would expect, it did not take long for Qualcomm to respond, with the San Diego firm claiming that customers are leaving 4+ star views on purchases, giving the impression that they are more than satisfied with the products.
The return rate of Snapdragon laptops is within the industry, according to Qualcomm's spokesperson
Despite shipping just 720,000 units since Qualcomm launched its Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus chipsets earlier this year, a company spokesperson has implied that customers are highly satisfied with their purchases. The unnamed representative states that the return rate of these Snapdragon laptops is within the industry norm but does not provide any figure. According to various media outlets, Qualcomm’s introduction of faster chipsets was a breath of fresh air, as these not only provide exceptional performance to rival the Apple Silicon but also compete with MacBook models in battery life.
“Our devices continue to have greater than 4+ stars across consumer reviews and our products have received numerous accolades across the industry including awards from Fast Company, TechRadar, and many consumer publications. Our device return rates are within industry norm.”
A quick search on Amazon would provide more truth to Qualcomm’s claims, with various Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus laptops having a rating of 4 stars and above. It is possible that the low shipment tally is due to the high launch price of various machines, which was expected. Thankfully, in the later months, there have been several discounts, which have made these laptops an attractive prospect. Fortunately, things will likely improve next year because Qualcomm CEO Christiano Amon said that in 2025, customers would be able to purchase Snapdragon laptops for as low as $700.
