PS5 2024 Hype Trailer Confirms Metal Gear Solid Delta, Silent Hill 2, and More for This Year

As is often the case, the folks at PlayStation have released a hype video for the new year, showcasing some of the games that will be arriving on PS5 in 2024. In addition to generally being a fun watch, the trailer also essentially confirms 2024 releases for a number of games that hadn’t solidified a release window yet, including Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the Silent Hill 2 remake, and Firewalk Studios’ mysterious PvP shooter Concord. In addition to the trailer, Sony also has a new website showcasing some of the PS5’s big 2024 games. Here are a few of the highlights…

• Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - After escaping from the dystopian city of Midgar, Cloud and his friends set out on a journey across the planet. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the highly anticipated next chapter in the Final Fantasy VII remake project - a reimagining of the iconic fantasy adventure by its original creators.
• Stellar Blade - Work to rebuild Earth's last bastion of life, the city of Xion, in a fast-paced action-adventure from Korean developer Shift Up Corporation. Return to an nearly extinct Earth, overrun by a monstrous horde of creatures known as the Naytiba, and fight to restore mankind.
• The Last of Us Part II Remastered - Play the winner of over 300 Game of the Year awards now with an array of technical enhancements that make The Last of Us Part II Remastered the definitive way to play Ellie and Abby’s critically acclaimed story. Experience The Last of Us II's deep combat in the brand-new 'No Return' mode, a roguelike experience in which you must survive as long as you can in each run, as you choose your path through a series of randomized encounters.
• Helldivers II - Join the Helldivers – Super Earths Elite peacekeeping force - and fight for freedom with friends across a hostile galaxy in this fast, frantic third-person shooter.
• Concord - A new PVP multiplayer first-person shooter from Firewalk Studios, launching on PS5 and PC.
• Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater - Re-discover the origin story of iconic military operative Snake and unravel the plot of the legendary Metal Gear series. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater re-envisages the immersive stealth action gameplay of the PS2 classic with modern audio-visual design, returning players to the riveting world of Metal Gear.
• Silent Hill 2 - Experience a master class in psychological horror - lauded as the best in the series - recreated for PlayStation 5 with chilling visuals and visceral audio.

What are your thoughts on the PS5 2024 lineup as it stands now (more things are sure to be announced as the year progresses)? Pretty remake-heavy at the moment, but they’re remakes of games I loved, so I can’t complain too bitterly. Interesting to see that there’s still not a lot of emphasis on Sony’s once-promised live service initiative outside of Concord and Helldivers.
