South Korean developer NCSOFT is widely known for its MMORPGs, but it is now branching out, as exemplified by the newly revealed Project G. This game falls under the category of MMORTS, or massively multiplayer online strategy game.

Project G is the company's first RTS and is based on brand-new intellectual property. Players will be engaged in a war of massive scale, trying to expand by gathering the game's limited resources, though the heart of the gameplay will be guilds battling for territories.

Powered by Unreal Engine technology, Project G includes characters of different races, melee and ranged units to be commanded on the battlefield, and special maneuvers such as Dragons and Strategic Arms.

Minseok Seo, Project Director on Project G, stated:

Building an RTS title upon NCSOFT’s advanced technology accumulated with an MMO-based massive-scale battle system, we aim to create unprecedented scale and quality that have not been witnessed in any other strategy games. Players will be able to experience the quintessence of strategy games, coupled with various units and worlds unique to Project G, making the gameplay itself the fun factor for the players.

Project G is being developed for both PC and mobile platforms. NCSOFT did not provide a release date yet.

Other games the studio is working on include the interactive narrative game Project M, the open-world MMO third-person shooter Project LLL, and the freshly unveiled Battle Crush, an action battle brawler formerly known as Project R. Featuring playable characters from Greek and Roman mythology, Battle Crush pits them in a battle for the last man standing in matches of up to 30 players. The game will be released on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms; you can check out its debut gameplay trailer here.

Of course, NCSOFT's biggest upcoming title is arguably Throne and Liberty, the flagship MMORPG due to release for PC and consoles. In late February, confirming earlier rumors, the South Korean studio announced that Amazon Games would publish Throne and Liberty in Japan, North America, South America, and Europe. No timetable has been confirmed yet.

Throne and Liberty was originally announced alongside a sister title codenamed Project E. This will be set on the same planet, albeit on different continents. As hinted by the title, it will take place on the continent of Laisak, which is based on the Eastern medieval era. The official cinematic trailer can be viewed on YouTube.
