Following last week's launch of System Update 7.0, Sony released today another PlayStation 5 System Update, which addresses one of the issues introduced by the previous update.

System Update Update 23.01-07.01.00, as confirmed by the official update notes, is a minor update, as it only fixes an issue that was causing Discord voice chat to disconnect. If there's any other undocumented change, we will only learn about it in the next few hours as more users download and install the update.

Discord integration is only one of the new features introduced by PlayStation 5 System Update 7.0. The update brought, among other things, variable refresh rate support for 1440p resolution, better 1440p support, new accessibility and ease of use features like simpler PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 save data migration and data transfer, the ability to update DualSense controllers wirelessly, and more. The full update notes can be found here.

While Sony is continuing to introduce new features to its current-generation console, the Japanese company hasn't been idle regarding the hardware side of things, as some minor console revisions were released in the past few months. A bigger PlayStation 5 revision, which will support a detachable disk drive that may not be compatible with the console's current version, is rumored to be in the works for a September 2023 release.

The PlayStation 5 console is now available worldwide in two variants: the regular edition and the Digital Edition. We will keep you updated on the console's system updates as soon as more on them come in, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
