A new report from Variety reveals that Paramount Skydance is launching its own internal game development and publishing house, Paramount Games Studio. Its portfolio so far includes Amy Hennig's upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, and an untitled Star Wars game. It's also going to reveal the first game from its new slate of titles today during Summer Game Fest 2026.
Paramount Skydance chief executive officer David Ellison has tapped Tony Driscoll to lead the new division, a former Epic Games executive and advisor to Skydance before becoming the executive vice president of corporate strategy and development and games at Paramount. It's a new umbrella for all of Paramount Skydance's video game endeavours, combining Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media into one big studio.
"This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games – not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming," Driscoll said. "We are committed to creating exceptional games for every type of player, from casual to AAA, and building enduring experiences across our beloved Paramount IP and original worlds that deepen fan engagement and drive long-term growth."
While he's now taking on the role of leading up the new studio, he'll remain in his executive vice president role, where he will continue to work on the massive merger with Warner Bros. Discovery. There's also more role shuffling with Dan Prigg, former head of Skydance Interactive, now executive vice president and head of games for Paramount. Shawn Kittelson is now the senior vice president, head of creative and production for the studio.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned Amy Hennig, who we haven't seen bring a game over the finish line since her Naughty Dog days, is now the creative director of Paramount Games Studio. The first new games from the Uncharted legend will hopefully, finally, be able to make it out to players soon. Last we heard on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, it's due to arrive at some point in 2026.
While the report specifies that Paramount Games Studio will reveal a new game at tonight's awards, it wouldn't be too surprising if we finally heard more about Rise of Hydra, if that is still coming sometime this year. The report does at least confirm that both Rise of Hydra and Hennig's Star Wars game are still in development.
